- Discussing customer’s past remodeling projects and future plans for the home
- Reviewing customer’s energy and water billing history
- Complete scale drawing of home, including foundations, frame walls and windows, doors and roof types
- Review of home site location, shading, soil grading and moisture draining ability
- Documentation of lawns, pools, gardens, orchards, guest homes, spas, hot tubs, lighting and other energy and water loads
- Checking of insulation levels and condition of areas including crawl spaces, basements, slabs, attics, floors, walls, ceilings and roofs
- Evaluation of windows and doors
- Assessment of gas heating flue/vent pipes, flexible and hard pipe gas lines, fire safety clearances, access to shutoff valves, as well as combustion air sources
- Visual confirmation of water heating pressure/temperature relief valves and drain pipes and water pipe insulation
- Checking of air conditioning condensation drain lines and pumps
- Assessment of possible moisture problems in bathrooms, kitchen, utility rooms, mechanical closets, window sills and frames, doors, ceilings and attics
- Documentation of large load use and/or frequently used appliances and notation of their condition
- Notation of types of lighting used inside and outside home
